Branding that keeps it ‘Reel’
B-Side Tapes is the brainchild of musician and videographer, Mike Dunton. It’s a YouTube channel that features artists performing original songs that they love, but for one reason or another didn't get cut. Between their live performances, Mike interviews the artists about their lives and experiences—making the production more mini-doc than a music video.
When Mike explained his vision for the channel, I knew he was onto something special. It was important to him that the high production quality be evident through the branding without feeling like it’s overcompensating. Additionally, the identity system would have to work well in motion and allow for a compelling presence on social media.
The resulting identity combines a clean look with timeless vintage sentiment, creating a non-genre specific system that works across multiple applications. That’s something to turn up the volume for.
